97^th IUVSTA Workshop on plasma-assisted conversion of gases for a sustainable future

Cerklje na Gorenjskem, a town where the Ljubljana Basin meets the Alpine world of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, lies at the foot of Mount Krvavec and is a starting point for many hiking and cycling routes. It is surrounded by forests, fields, and other agricultural areas. In addition to many churches, a special attraction is Strmol Castle, one of the oldest preserved castles with extraordinary stories of contemporary history.

The ski resort of Krvavec near Cerklje is regarded as the local mountain of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. A feeder gondola lift takes you up to a high meadow; no valley run is possible. However, the resort’s high location at almost 2000 m allows an unusually long ski season for Slovenia, up to the end of April/early May. Skiing and snowboarding in Krvavec can feel like a dream at times above the clouds. It is not overly large but a well-maintained ski resort. And for those wanting to learn to ski, the winter sports resort of Krvavec has a ski school and moving carpets.

The closest airport is Jože Pučnik – Brnik Airport (Ljubljana, Slovenia). It is about 20 minutes car drive from Ljubljana to the airport and about 25 min drive from the airport to Ambrož pod Krvavcem (Cerklje na Gorenjskem) where you take the cable car lift to the conference venue.

For everyone coming by their own transportation:

BUS

The main bus station is located close to Ljubljana’s center. On the web page, you can check the timetable. Add “Ljubljana avtobusna postaja” as your entering station and “Spodnja postaja kabinske žičnice Krvavec” as your exit station. Please note that the timetables will be known 1 week before the conference. The Hotel is on the ski slopes, so you will have to use the cable car to get to the ski slopes and then another ski lift to get to the hotel.

TRAIN

For those coming by train – unfortunately, there is no nearby train station to the “Spodnja postaja kabinske žičnice Krvavec”. So you will have to combine trying with bus or taxi.

CAR

Put “Spodnja postaja kabinske žičnice Krvavec” into Google maps and it will lead you directly to the parking lot at the cable lift. The Hotel is on the ski slopes, so you will have to use the cable car to get to the ski slopes and then another ski lift to get to the hotel.

Located directly on the ski slope, it is an ideal starting point for winter and summer activities on the Krvavec mountain range. In the cozy mountain atmosphere of the alpine hotel, friendly hotel staff will be available throughout your holiday. During the day, the hotel offers a spacious self-service restaurant, and you can refresh yourself at the popular Beach, an outdoor terrace with a bar, the main point of daily gathering and fun on the mountain, which is located near the hotel.

The hotel offers wellness with an intimate infrared and Finnish sauna and direct access to the snow.  Fun eager guests will be able to have fun in the fun room late at night, where they can play their own music, have fun with hand football, hockey, darts (picador) and billiards.
